NZ U19's PREPARE FOR WORLD CUP

11 May, 2007

The U19 New Zealand squad started training for the 2007 World Championships in November 2005.

Their first ever overseas trip as a team was to the U17 Australian Nationals in April 06 where they made a considerable impact on the tournament.

They beat Western Australia and New South Wales, losing to South Australia and eventual tournament winners Victoria. In a 3 game series against Victoria Blue the NZ U19 team won 2-1. The tournament was a great learning experience for the team and coaches alike.

Great relationships were made with the Australian U19 squad and their coaches and we are looking forward to making many more friends in Canada.

With a total of eleven teams and three pools, New Zealand has been placed in Pool C along with Germany, Czech Republic and Haudenosaunee. New Zealand's first game is against Haudenosaunee on August 4.

Other pool matches:
August 5 - NZ vs Germany
August 6 - NZ vs Czech Republic
